Brief
The Monchiero Carbone winery is located in Canale, in the heart of the Roero hills. Formed by the merging of two vine-growing families with several prized plots of Roero vineyards, the estate is now run by husband and wife team Francesco Monchiero and Lucrezia Scarsi. We like how they are fanatical about the potential of their beloved Arneis grape, developing clean and vibrant versions and always reminding us of its great charm and surprisingly, medium term age-worthiness in good vintages.
Why We Love Them
A winery who have put their heart and soul into the native grape of their hometown - Arneis. Easily one of the top producers of this cherished local grape, Monchiero Carbone have shown great consistency over the years with the ReCit, a typically floral and generous Arneis, as well as Cecu d'La Biunda, a more linear, elegant and focused Arneis bottling that often shows better after a few years of bottle ageing.
